Good morning, I have a virtual machine with WInXP. I proceeded to update the additions but on reboot the system asks me to load the drivers for PCI Device:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2829&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_02\3&267A616A&0&68
Where can I find this driver

Re: WinXP problem with PCI device
If you created the VM using an unmodified VirtualBox XP template then you do not need drivers except those included as standard in XP. If you modified the VM settings to add hardware that XP knows nothing about, e.g. SATA or USB3, then it would be up to you to find drivers for that hardware. The "Howto" area discusses how to get both of the latter two features btw.

No, this is not the case. I don't know. Any other suggestions

Re: WinXP problem with PCI device
Personally, I could not identify what the PCI device is from this:
Your added pictures show an AHCI device in the Disk Controllers, which is for SATA drives. This device is not stock in an XP VM. Try removing it.
nor from the first screenshot, which is the standard XP "New Hardware" box for all new hardware identified by the OS.boxino wrote:PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2829&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_02\3&267A616A&0&68

To identify a PCI or USB device, you can search The PCI ID Repository or The USB ID Repository.
In this case: https://pci-ids.ucw.cz/read/PC/8086/2829

Re: WinXP problem with PCI device
In fact it seems this is the case. Your own screenshot shows that you added a SATA (a.k.a. AHCI (*)) controller to the VM settings Storage section - this would not have been part of the XP template which I hope you selected given an XP guest. This controller also doesn't seem to be necessary, since you have nothing attached to it.boxino wrote:No, this is not the case.
XP knows nothing about SATA, hence the request for drivers (SATA support requires Vista or later). Since you don't need SATA you should remove that AHCI controller.
(*) VirtualBox can't just "do SATA", it has to emulate a specific chipset. In this case it emulates AHCI, which is Intel's implementation of SATA.
Re: WinXP problem with PCI device
Deleting the device works correctly. Thank you.
