NAT guests always have 10.0.2.15 as their IP

Post by operation420.net »

I want to run some VMs that can communicate directly with each other and can make outgoing connections to external networks but only allow solicited incoming connections, ie I subnet behind NAT.

When I have two VMs set to NAT they both have the 10.0.2.15, do these guests have their own virtual network behind NAT isolated from each other?

In the Virtual Network Manger I can only create host-only networks, when I click the create button to create a network, it doesn't as for host-only/NAT network type, it just creates a host-only network with predefined name+number.

How can I configure two or mroe VMs to communicate with each other, but not (incoming connections from) the host?

Create an internal virtual network and put both vms in this network. See Chapter 6.2 of the manual for the types of networking available.

Or use a "NAT Network" to get internet into the VMs' private network too.
