[Solved] Confused on VirtualBox

Post by Bravo22 »

Hello,

I am a bit confused on VirtualBox.
I used in the past year installed on my Windows 10 pc until I had a hdd crash.
I had been running Windows 8.1 Pro in VirtualBox on the pc.

I now have pc working again but am a bit lost on use now.
With VirtualBox 6.1 installed on Windows 10 can I still use My Windows 8.1 in VirtualBox?

I read this line "If you're looking for the latest VirtualBox 6.0 packages, see VirtualBox 6.0 builds. Please also use version 6.0 if you need to run VMs with software virtualization, as this has been discontinued in 6.1. Version 6.0 will remain supported until July 2020." , but it makes no sense to me.
I want/need Windows 8.1 to be working as I have 2 pieces of software that will not work on 10 and have been discontinued as companies closed down.
Does that line in bold mean i can no longer run Windows 8.1 using new versions of VirtualBox?

Thanks

Yes, provided the VM folder (and files inside) are intact.

See Howto: Move a VM.
