During upgrade does Warning network interfaces actually disconnect?

Will the red notice 'Warning network interfaces' during upgrade actually disconnect me from the internet if I am on a vpn?

Here is the message:
"Installing the Oracle VM Virtualbox 6.1.18 Netowrking feature will reset you network connection and temporarily disconnect you from the network.
Proceed with installation now?"

I have installed Virtualbox on a few PCs while remoting in over a VNC connection and did not see any disconnect. But there is no telling how other software might act.
