Only 32bit guest options available on a 64bit host - why?

Post by smokinjo »

Hello,

I installed virtual box just fine on my desktop computer. It runs fine.

I installed the same program (v.5.2.6) on my laptop.

When I go to set up a guest system and creater a VM, it only offers 32bit options.

Why?

I download the wrong version of virtual box?

I am running it on a 64bit computer using a 64 bit version of Ubuntu 16.04.

I am pretty sure that I downloaded the 64bit version of virtual box. When I look at it, I see no indication on how to see if I haver the 32bit or the 64 bit.

If needed, I will redownlaod if it is because I accidentally got the wrong one.

Thanks for ideas.
