Re: RS422 doesn't work in Win XP guest
What is the reason what simulated UART in VirtualBox is 16450? Will this be ever changed in VirtualBox to change to more recent simulation of UART with support for FIFO buffers?

Re: Running 16bit software in Windows XP guest
Turning on VTx in BIOS helped. Thanks!
I also saw option "Virtualization Technology Directed I/O (Vtd)" in BIOS next to VTx. Do you know what this is for?

Running 16bit software in Windows XP guest
I am trying to run 16bit software in Windows XP guest session. I tried to use one dll file (provided by someone else in out company), which was used before on physical install of Windows XP to run that 16 bit software. However in virtualbox it doesn't seem to work yet. Is anyone able to do that? Or ...

Re: RS422 doesn't work in Win XP guest
It kind of makes sense to me.
VM will treat it like a USB device and whatever I try to use COM1 for in guest session will think it is a COM port.
Hopefully I will able to try this tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

Re: Static IPs on the host?
What if I disable one on the host and then try to run virtual guest with the ip that I need? Would this work? (so that only guest would have access to this NIC card or that ip) Can I do this automatically somehow? when I start guest session? or (if it would work) would I have to do it manually every...

Re: RS422 doesn't work in Win XP guest
Ah.. thanks. That's why... I wasn't aware of this limitation. Now it makes more sense why my COM2 worked, one for communication, since I was polling it at 9600 rate. I might try to poll COM1 at 9600, if I can. ==== I think I might try USB/422 adapter option too. It would be treated as a USB device b...

RS422 doesn't work in Win XP guest
I am running Windows 7 as my host and Windows XP is a VirtualBox guest install. I set up two serial ports, one is COM1 and another COM2. COM2 is RS232 and COM1 is RS422. COM2 works fine, no problems. But COM1 returns an error when it tries to contact one address... It recognizes the address and trie...

Static IPs on the host?
My host is Windows 7, and my guest is Windows XP. I am trying to run Win XP in Virtualbox because one application that I need to support doesn't work in Windows 7 (too old). For that application to work, I need two COM ports working (one is RS-232 and another is RS-422), it also needs access to one ...
