Re: VB memory error
I would reinstall. I've installed a few different things, care to be more specific? I'm on the third from-scratch win98 VM. Was not having the VB crash problem in the first 2, just the fatal OD/VXD/VMM. Between the 2nd and third I also uninstalled and reinstalled VB software... perhaps something we...

Re: VB memory error
The PC is repurposed from general use and has the standard image. I have admin rights on the PC but am still locked out of some things. For example, I can click to "Disable Sym Endpoint Protection", but I can't make any changes within the settings. So the attached is after a crash followin...

Re: VB memory error
The 24bit would have been a misplaced click. So now VGA 32, Bear. Unhitched the not needed Audio, floppy, and USB drivers. Got the VB crash again while running a test. Also still getting the fatal OD/VXD/VMM error if I try to plot data in the old program. I can live without the plot, but it might be...

Re: VB memory error
What is the better approach for this, disabling through the VBox settings, or from within the Win98 device manager?mpack wrote:.... If changing the graphics chipset doesn't make a difference then I sugest you try turning off unnecessary devices to test if it makes a difference. I'd start with the audio next.

Switched to Bear driver. Uninstalled OneDrive. Still got this error. Both vbox and vboxhardening logs in zip. Physically the only attachments to this PC are the rehometer, monitor, keyboard, mouse & Ethernet cable.

Re: VB memory error
I just realized that this topic is in the wrong forum (Windows Hosts). Your choice of forum should be dictated by the subject matter, not a fun fact from your biographical data. I'll move the topic to "Windows Guests". Since it seemed to me that the error is occurring on the host side of ...

Re: VB memory error
Requested log attached. If I switch from SVGA I am stuck with a 640x480 screen - that doesn't work for me. I can try running the Screen Doctor (or whatever its called) again tomorrow with the VGA. I am gone for the rest of this afternoon.

VB memory error
Win 10 host, win98SE guest. Occasional memory errors that crash the guest session. Same error, different numbers each time. Could it be as simple as the host needs a defrag?

Re: win98se VB - fatal exception OD...VXD VMM....
OK, back in business. Long way to go yet. The blue screen quit happening after I did some tweaking on the databases It came back when I restored the DB to originals again. So I'm pretty certain that is a glitch within the old software and won't bother you with that anymore. I'll start a new thread f...

Re: win98se VB - fatal exception OD...VXD VMM....
Well poop. So the re-do was having the same issues, and I was ready to work around them. It would run a test or two before needing a reboot and I could have lived with that. Then I got a VB crash. And somewhere toward the end of the day the rheometer lost its "Home" position by a couple ce...

Re: win98se VB - fatal exception OD...VXD VMM....
For the most part I followed the instructions I found here (https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=59559). The SciTech Display Doctor. But since the instructed 512 MB RAM, 64 MB vid ram, 2D & 3D acceleration, and 8+ GB HD aren't the best recommendations, maybe there are better vid...

Re: win98se VB - fatal exception OD...VXD VMM....
I would reduce the RAM allocation to something like 64MB. I'd reduce graphics ram to 32MB. Done Also: you can turn 2D and 3D acceleration off. ... Done. Your hard drive is distressingly large too at 10GB - ... Found instruction for making it bigger, but when I tried same for making it smaller it sa...

Re: win98se VB - fatal exception OD...VXD VMM....
512 MB ram. I don't know when the VBLog restarts (if ever) so I made the program do its bluescreen right before I saved the log, so it will be easy to find. A few minutes before that I got a VB error and crash (also in the zip). This occurred twice today while running the rheometer program. Second t...

win98se VB - fatal exception OD...VXD VMM....
So the good news is that the Win98se VB is running fine - mostly. And the ancient software I need it for is also running fine - mostly. The error occurs when, within said software, I attempt to run a plot of the data generated. I've googled and there is a TON of suggestions on how to go about fixing...
