This is resolved for me with VirtualBox 4.3.22 and its guest additions. The VM does not crash anymore for me. Can anyone else test? Yup, I have the same problem. Starting a VM with guest additions installed from an RDP session will use the microsoft rdp video driver, not the actual GPU in my machine. It will crash Ubuntu at login. I found this bug in the tracker: ticket 12860
