Rawdisk, invalid medium variant?
I'm running Virtualbox 6.1. I want to create a virtual machine on my Linux Mint 21 host that runs my Windows installation on the other partition. I've followed the tutorial here which tells me to use the following command: VBoxManage createmedium disk --filename /home/weboh/VirtualBox/Windows.vmdk -...

Re: Status of compatibility with patched UXtheme.dll?
Well, that explains why it hasn't been fixed by now. I got the info that it was going to be from another thread I posted on here, but I guess that guy didn't know what he was talking about. :/ How can self-sign it?

Status of compatibility with patched UXtheme.dll?
For a long time now, I've had to unpatch my uxtheme.dll to get VirtualBox to run. It's really irritating, especially since I reported the problem a year or so ago and was told it's being worked on. The last version that worked was 4.3.12, and here we are at 5.0.16 and it's still the same. Are there ...

Re: Windows 10 VM stopped working
I should be able to go back to any other snapshot, but when I try, I get the same message about that VDI being inaccessible and nothing loads. I had no idea that snapshots were not supposed to be used like that. I thought that was the whole point of them? Anyway, the data isn't that important--it's ...

Windows 10 VM stopped working
I have a Windows 10 VM that used to work, but today just stopped working. One of its snapshot VDIs shrunk to 0 bytes and can't be read. It was somehow modified at a date when no snapshot sav files were. I can't open any of the 10 snapshots of it I have, because they all somehow need that one corrupt...

Re: Create a Machine using existing VHD.
@ loukingjr
I know. I'm trying to attach a vhd. I know it's valid because it still works in Virtual PC.
@BillG
I'm running WIndows 7. I just want it in VirtualBox because Virtual PC's native graphics driver is garbage.

Re: Create a Machine using existing VHD.
No, no. I'm using the standard virtual box create virtual machine button, from within virtualbox. I then tell it to use an existing hard drive for the new machine I'm creating, and that's the problem. It gives that error and won't let me create a machine.

Re: Create a Machine using existing VHD.
The VM that the hard drive was from was created with Windows Virtual PC. I can't attach a VirtualBox VM information file, as I can't create one. But here's the Windows Virtual PC file.

Create a Machine using existing VHD.
I'm having a hard time creating a machine with an existing Windows Virtual PC vhd. Whenever I try, I get the message below. How can I make this work? Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: Medium Interface: IMedium {05f2bbb6-a3a6-4fb9-9b49-6d0dda7142ac} Callee: IVirtualBox {fafa4e17-1ee2-4905-a...

4.3.20 compatability with patched uxtheme.dll
So, I was having problems running VirtualBox for the longest time. But then I heard somewhere on here that a patched uxtheme.dll might be causing the problem. Sure enough, it was. I tried just copying the unpatched file into VirtualBox's directory, but no luck. It won't work at all with that file pa...

Windows 8/10 Guest Additions
The guest additions installer completely messes up Windows 8/10. It corrupts the graphics driver, as far as I can tell. I'm using virtualbox 4.3.20 with the extension pack installed, but it's been doing this since 4.3.16. I'm attaching the log.

Updated to 4.3.18, all VMs no longer work
After I upgraded to 4.3.18, every single VM I created in the older version ceased to function. They all give me the same error. I'm attaching the log (in a zip folder, because my is it large). I tried simply making a new VM with the existing hard drive, but no luck. I'm hoping someone here can help ...

Won't let me install Windows 8 after 7
I have Windows 7 installed on a virtual machine, and I want to put 8 on it. I ran the Windows 8 upgrade program, but it doesn't work; it says I need a 1 GhZ Processor. I have more than twice that, and Windows 7 even recognizes 2.2 GhZ Dual-Core. But the Windows 8 upgrade program won't. What can I do...
