Thanks for the suggestions. However, I only ever sign in as one user and I did try running the repair disk permissions.

Are there supposed to be VBox extensions in the /Library/Extensions directory? I don't see any.

The other weird thing I noticed is when I bring up the "About VirtualBox" dialog, it says:

I've been trying to figure that out. It's been a while since I used it. Perhaps the 10.9.1 upgrade? I think I also upgraded to virtual box 4.3.6.

I tried downgrading to 4.3.4 and 4.2.20 with no luck.
