Any operation after quit of VM results in Failed to open session for VM.. (this was after restart attempt. Same thing after power off):
I can quit VBox manager and restart it and get back to seeing USB devices.

Unfortunately I have the same issue. OS X 10.8.2, VBOX 4.2.4 r81684 oracle extensions loaded in. VM is ubuntu 12.04 desktop. I have the filter set, and am unable to see a USB SDHC card reader... Also the built in SDHC card reader is not even an option..... After getting the famed "Failed to att...
