Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

VirtualBox 4.2.16, Host Windows 7 64 bit, Guest SL 6.4 (64 bit)

The latest upgrade to the kernel has made no change: every opengl program still seg faults. This is for Scientific Linux. I presume it also holds for the original RHEL, Centos and Oracle Linux. Unless anyone knows otherwise?

Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

Are you sure the the problem for the segfault is in Vbox and not in the host display driver / rendering engine? I do not know where the problem lies. People above have reported the problem with ATI, NVIDIA and Intel graphics cards. 64 bit Windows host might be a common factor? It is triggered by th...

Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

VirtualBox 4.2.16, Host Windows 7 64 bit, Guest SL 6.4 (64 bit) The new release has not fixed this issue on SL. With guest additions it would seem that all opengl programs core dump on current versions of RHEL, Centos, Scientific Linux and, presumably, Oracle's own RHEL based operating system. Do we...

Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

I have gone back to the original Centos 6.4 and updated bit by bit. My results are the same as those of matteo: the segmentation fault occurs with the updated version of mesa but not the base version.

Does anyone have an up-to-date RHEL/Centos/SL 6.4 with an up-to-date VB that has working OpenGL?

Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

VirtualBox 4.2.14, Host Windows 7 64 bit, Guest Centos 6.4 (64 bit) I upgraded to VirtualBox 4.2.14 but the segmentation fault for all opengl programs remained with my SL 6.4 host. I installed a fresh Centos 6.4 (64 bit) host from the live CD, updated, installed dkms and requirements, rebooted, inst...

Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

Thanks for the suggestion but 4.2.10 fails to compile for reasons that have been seen before. Had I not upgraded the OS to 6.4 it would probably have worked but that's life. I may have a play with the source at the weekend but if the next release is going to happen next week and I can get on with mo...

Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

Thanks but there seems to be a problem with the link. I get a not found 404 on the iso and a forbidden 403 on the directory.

Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

Thanks for the interest and the log files are attached. Panic has reduced somewhat since the work builds on the older OS. Can now spend a bit of time understanding what has happened and taking one or two precautions in case it happens again.

Re: Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

I have upgraded to the latest SL 6.4, rebuilt the guest additions and every opengl program is still core dumping. Is this a known problem? Can I go back to the previous version of virtualbox, install a development version or something that will keep my current setup and allow me to run opengl. There...

Segmentation fault for all OpenGL programs

VirtualBox 4.2.12, Host Windows 7 64 bit, Guest Scientific Linux 6.3

All opengl programs core dump (e.g. glxinfo, glxgears) including the opengl program I am trying to write. Is this a known/expected problem? Can I revert to 4.2.10 and keep my current data? Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Auto-resize and OpenGL acceleration for SL6 guest

Solved.

Apparently xorg.conf is still used and something created it with 4 lines instructing Xorg to use the vesa driver which silently prevented the loading of the vboxvideo driver.

Re: Fedora: Squiggles on Screen

If it is any help, I observe the same behaviour with a Windows 7 64 bit host.

Auto-resize and OpenGL acceleration for SL6 guest

Windows 7 64 bit host, Virtualbox 4.0.4, Scientific Linux 6.0b3 64 bit (RHEL clone) guest. I have installed SL 6.0b3 as a guest several times over the past couple of days with bafflingly different results which I am trying to understand and address. The first installation from the Live DVD worked wi...
