Re: still missing Hd space

VirtualBox no longer stores it's vdi's in /Users/<username/Library/VirtualBox, they are now stored in /Users/<username>/VirtualBox VMs, unless you've located .vdis in the Library directory due to earlier installations. Assuming that directory was deleted, I'd have to go with the idea, that if it's a...

Re: A Strange Issue. Help Please!

A couple of suggestions to OP: 1) it could just be that these .vdi are in the trash. Mac OS X will not reclaim disk space until you empty the trash. 2) if your home directory is encrypted (vs. full disk encryption), you will also need to log out and log back in to recover disk space, after you empty...

Re: Can't create SD card vmdk on guest: Ubuntu 12.04--2012 r

Thank you for posting these detailed instructions. I presume you're prepping cards for RPi or similar? I am in the same boat until I can work out the cross-compile tool chain for ARM on Mt. Lion. diskutil list will also show you all of your disks and partitions on the Mac side. Rather than firing up...

Re: OpenIndiana, NFS and VirtualBox slow network solution

Thanks for posting up this solution, carbs. I've implemented it and it resolved the problem I was having between my NFS write-intensive XP VM client running on my OpenIndiana 151a host serving the NFS. Update 11/6: Looks like this was a temporary fix. After about a week, I started seeing the same sl...

Re: ERROR: VT-X is not available

Rather than editing the <VMname>.vbox file with a text editor, you can just issue the following command in a Terminal after shutting down VirtualBox:

Code: Select all

VBoxManage modifyvm <VMname> --hwvirtex off

Re: Virtualbox on Mac

OP might want to take a look at this page for alternatives to VirtualPC, now owned by M$: http://www.macwindows.com/pcemul.html . I'm not sure if VirtualPC is still available new, but a good place to look for used copies might be the Low End Mac Swap list. ( http://lowendmac.com/lists/ ) Since runni...

No files visible when OS X home dir mounted on Solaris guest

I have VBox 3.1.2 r56127 installed on 10.6.2. My guest is Solaris 10, u8, patched up as of yesterday. Guest additions are installed. Mount points are under my Solaris home dir, and mount point ownership/perms are set to my Solaris 10 UID/GID. I have two directories shared, one is on an external driv...
