Bridged Adapter Stopped Working
I am running the newest version of VirtualBox on a XP PRO sp3 guest on a XP PRO sp3 host. I have Comodo Firewall 5 installed on both. The Host is on a VLAN on a Cisco managed switch. At one point, the Guest could access the Internet using Bridged Adapter or NAT. At that point, the Guest Additions we...

Re: Importing a Paragon Go Virtual VMDK
Just after the import and before you start the guest for the first time. Take the check out of IO APIC and see if it works. You are trying to make an OS that already has drivers and settings installed work in a different computer (emulated) I do not think that it resolved the issue. Safe mode loads...

Re: Importing a Paragon Go Virtual VMDK
This usually means a driver issue or the selected options do not match the second machine. Common problems are IO APIC on in the guest settings when the original was not setup for SMP. Is this setting something I change on the source XP machine as part of the Paragon Go Virus process? Or, on the Vi...

Re: Importing a Paragon Go Virtual VMDK
During the creation of the VMDK file it will also create the OVF file. You need both in the same directory to be able to import the package. See Chapter 1.11. Importing and exporting virtual machines in your VirtualBox users manual. Yes, Thank you. I did not notice the 'ovf' file on the external ha...

Importing a Paragon Go Virtual VMDK
I used Paragon Go Virtual to create a Virtual Image (I hope I am using the correct term). I specified Oracle VirtualBox as the format. A file with a 'vmdk' suffix was created. According to the instructions on Paragon's Web site the steps to import this image are: 1. File / Import Appliance 2. Browse...

Re: Possible to Boot Off A Windows Ultimate Boot CD?
What I am trying to do is boot off the UBCD and access the XP PRO sp3 Virtual Box client which resides on that USB drive. I'm afraid that doesn't make much sense. If you can "successfully boot off that XP client" then you are already accessing it, there is nothing else you need to do. If ...

Re: Possible to Boot Off A Windows Ultimate Boot CD?
Calling it an "external SATA drive (on USB)" is confusing. I assume you are talking about a USB drive (the fact that it uses SATA "under the hood" doesn't matter). So, assuming you do mean a USB drive, then I imagine you are encountering the usual problems people have getting US...

Re: Possible to Boot Off A Windows Ultimate Boot CD?
I would just detach the "virtual cable" to the virtual NIC. http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/UserManual.html#id2513282 . I don't know what kind of malware you want to test. In my opinion the best thing to do is to not allow any networking at all. Do you have any suggestions as to why the ...

Re: Possible to Boot Off A Windows Ultimate Boot CD?
Shouldn't be a problem. You can either place the CD in your normal CD/DVD drive or just attach the .iso file to the VM. Then make sure the boot order for your VM is set accordingly. I would suggest isolating your guest, i.e. no networking allowed. RE: networking: If I run 'IpConfig /all' on my Virt...

Possible to Boot Off A Windows Ultimate Boot CD?
I would like to use Virtual Box to test Malware removal techniques.
Specifically, I have created a XP PRO sp3 client which I would like to infect.
Then, I would like to boot off a Windows Ultimate Boot CD and clean-up the infections.
Is this possible?
Thank you in advance.
