I managed to install the PUEL version from Sun, it had 5 devices to choose from. Now I have an out-of-the-box working Windows 7 inside Ubuntu.

I've put this problem on hold.
Somehow I've screwed up my virtualbox installation. Reinstalling didn't work properly (with OSE and PUEL), but I think it was a common issue.
Fixing that first, if the problem persists I will dig this thread up agian.

Thanks for the tip to try out a different edition of VB. I found out I had a wrong entry in my profile. I was running the PUEL version (instead of the OSE). It came with those 2 options. I'm a bit confused now, you are running the PUEL as well but you have more options to choose from... I'm starting...
