I am Happy to report that all is working again after a reinstall of the guest additions !!!

I had no luck with the purposeful system crash.

I'm pretty new to Virtual Box (May '09) and am running VB version 2.2.4. I had gotten Seamless to work very well. And now it's gone.

I get the exact same thing on XP host Ubuntu guest. Seamless is now gone from my system. Under the Machine file bar, seamless shows as disabled, and the hot key doesn't work either. Even with various numbers of windows open. I also tried various reboots and boosting the video memory to 32 MB. No luc...
