Re: best processor , chipset for virtualbox

I use a 940 i7 with 12gb ddr3 (24gb triple channel kits are hard to find) on an asus p6t deluxe v2. It's a beast. I have an xp 64 host and can run 32 or 64 bit vm's and use up to around 10gb ram for vm's. Video card is useless as i just leave most running minimized as servers. Make sure you have a d...

Re: VM CPU Utilization

That doesn't totally explain it for me. Any process on the host computer has the default affinity set for all cores. You can manually change it to only use certain cores, but i doubt he did that. If one vm can only use one core, then its something in the virtualbox software limiting it to one core. ...

Re: Problems rating my Windows 7 using Windows Experience Index

There is no hardware for you to change. The VM with Windows 7 only see's the "fake" hardware virtualbox tells it is there. You could have a dual 2gb video cards in crossfire on the host and you'll still only score a 1.0 on the vm. You need a physical OS install to do what you're looking for.

Re: Can you install MAC Guest on XP Host?

Mac's software license agreement explicitly prohibits it from being installed on any hardware other than its own. Just thought you should know before posting in an open forum.

Virtual Machines in DMZ on Host in Intranet

I am setting up a dual firewall dmz for my virtual web server, ftp, remote desktop over http, etc. I have two nic's on my host. My plan is to break up my team and dedicate one for virtual machines connected to my dmz switch. I would then have the other nic for the host computer to be connected to th...

Re: Advanced Networking

Ok, well thats great news. I'm going to test it out tonight. Its sure going to save me on network adapters. I figured there would have to be a way since i know serious vmware setups can have over 40 vm's share a 20gb fiber connection. The next part of this is more difficult. If i forward a port in m...

Re: Advanced Networking

The purpose is so can forward ports from my router directly to the vm and only that vm for ftp, remote desktop, etc. The second function would be to create a virtual server environment with file server, exchange server, dns server etc all be virtual, yet be able to be connected to from a physical com...

Advanced Networking

Hey Guys, I have been using Virtualbox for a while now. I have a good machine to host the virtual machines from, so i usually run 2 or 3 servers while i'm away and up to 8 while home doing mischievous stuff. I currently have 3 ethernet adapters on my computer. One for general use, and the other two ...
