Thanks Sasquatch.

Re: Create shared folder?

The advice to "Read the manual" is good... up to a point. On my host (Mac, OS X Snow Leopard) I created a directory to be the share. In the VM (Linux, Ubuntu) I configured a connection to this folder (as per the manual) and set it to automount. Then I logged in to Ubuntu as the only user e...

Re: Virtualbox on Mac host can't play audio CDs in Ubuntu guest

Since posting the original message, I've downloaded and installed VirtualBox 3.0.4. I enabled pass-through, enabled non-free repositories, installed them - and still it is not possible to play CDs in a Linux guest OS on my Mac. Is this an underhanded way of sabotaging interest in Linux? For who woul...

Re: Virtualbox on Mac host can't play audio CDs in Ubuntu guest

Hi Perryg I think you're right. Up until now the only audio I'd used within any guest OS was that accompanying YouTube movies or MP3 files embedded in websites. Re: Virtualbox on Mac host can't play audio CDs in Ubuntu guest

Hi Perryg Thanks for taking the time to respond. Enabling 'Pass Through' meant that Ubuntu recognised an audio CD had been inserted. The standard 'Rythymbox' player wouldn't see any tracks on the CD though. OK, next stop, enable 3rd party repository and download some codecs. Additionally, I installe...

Virtualbox on Mac host can't play audio CDs in Ubuntu guest

Hi all. I've been using VirtualBox for a while, with a range of Linux distros. I'm running the latest version of VB on my Mac mini (10.4.11) and I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 on a new virtual machine. I've installed the guest additions and these seem to be OK (I can get Fullscreen properly, for examp...
