Core-i7; for virtualization purposes, is it worth upgrading to an i7 capable board with DDR3 and subsequently relegate my Q9650/P5Q Deluxe/DDR2-800 RAM elsewhere?

Correct. In the Advanced settings tab, VT-x/AMD-v and Nested Paging are available -- and checked. When starting the XP guest session, on the lower right corner of the window, is a small chip-like icon with a "V" in the middle. Hovering the mouse pointer over the "V" reveals VT-x/...

Is it possible to run a Windows app instead of the entire OS

Hello. RIght now I've set up a trimmed down install of XP.

I'd like to bypass Explorer interface and just run the actual application, and save on a few more resources in the process.

Is that even possible?
