Thanks for the hint, but does the warning ther imply that I should not do that since it may corrupt my data on the physical drive?

Can I use a real harddrive as "virtual media"?
I have installed Windows 7 and have a fully working harddrive still in the system from which I could boot my old Win XP. Since I need to transfer data from old XP to new W7 I have too boot the OS. Guest cannot be pinged
I have a Windows Xp , Vbox 2.1 and a ubuntu 8.10 guest.
The guest can ping the host and all other devices but no one can ping the guest. The guest has internet connection established so that one works. But why cant sb ping the guest? There is supposed to be no port blocking on any port
