Re: Yosemite Bootcamp VM - VERR_ACCESS_DENIED

The Bootcamp partition should be partition 4. You can check with this command via terminal:

sudo vboxmanage internalcommands listpartitions -rawdisk /dev/disk0

or open Disk Utility select your hard disk on the left pane and then select partition. This will show you what the partitions are.

Re: Using Win7 in Bootcamp with VirtualBox in OS Mavericks

Note that my success has always been when using a 32Bit version of Windows 7 within the Bootcamp partition. I have never gotten a 64Bit version of Bootcamp installed Windows 7 to work with VirtualBox, although other folks have been able to set up a 64Bit Bootcamp version. There is some discussion of ...

Re: Using Win7 in Bootcamp with VirtualBox in OS Mavericks

I believe this is because when you rebooted, the access to the /dev/disk0s4 was removed and also the BOOTCAMP partition was most likely mounted on MacOS. If you look at https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=51386, you will see that I have built an AppleScript file that will set access ...

Re: The installation Failed

I got this error today when I tried to upgrade from 4.3.0 to 4.3.4 on my MBP running mavericks. I finally got it to install by doing the following:

1). Copy the uninstall tool from the disk image pkg to the desktop.
2). Run the uninstall tool.
3). Reboot.
4). Try install again. This time it worked ...

Re: Where to put the Shared Folders in OS Maverick?

You should really take heed of the minimum info required when posting as in: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=58195&sid=6acd521ee193b271da46a5dc0a329b99
But that being said, Mavericks is really no different than any other MacOS OS before it with regard to where the users folder is ...

Re: Win8 Bootcamp Paritition and Virtual Box

If you have followed the tutorial at https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=48704&start=15, then you will see that I was never able to get a 64bit win7 bootcamp partition to work correctly under VBox scaffolding. Some folks claimed that they did have success at this, but I never have. I ...

Re: Using Win7 in Bootcamp with VirtualBox in OS Mavericks

If you look at viewtopic.php?f=27&t=51386, and follow along, you will see that you also have to set open access to those 2 files, in your case it would be "sudo chmod 777 /Users/flohy/win7raw*.vmdk".

Re: Virtualbox let Mavericks can't shutdown

I was able to download and install VBox 4.3 on my late 2012 MBP (2.3 GHz core i7 w/8 GB of memory) with Mavericks and then able to install the Guest additions as well on a Windows 7 Guest. This setup still works fine and I have had no problems with it.

But, I then upgraded my circa 2008 iMac (2.4 ...

Re: VERR_ACCESS_DENIED

You might want to check out "How to Use a MacOS Bootcamp Partition as a VirtualBox Guest" under Howtos and Tutorials-> Other Hosts. What you are trying to do is a variation of setting up a Bootcamp partition on the MacOS disk, but you will need some of the same mechanisms.

See my response in the "Found big solution to usb Problem" thread posted yesterday. The questions I asked would seem to equally apply here as well.

Re: Found big solution to usb problem (including greyed out)

Have you: 1). Installed the Extension pack that is compatible with the release of VirtualBox version that you have installed (separate download)? This is necessary for VBox to see USB drives. 2). Released the USB drive from MacOS? You have to do this before the guest OS can pick it up. If you Click ...

Re: Discussion: MacOS Bootcamp Partition as a VBox Guest

I have setup another 64 Bit Windows 7 Bootcamp partition (40 GB) on my circa 2012 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion (10.8.3) and setup Windows 7 such that it came up fine from the BootCamp partition. I just tried setting up the VBox (2.2.12) scaffolding as described in my tutorial. I duplicated the ...

Re: Discussion: MacOS Bootcamp Partition as a VBox Guest

Sorry, I no longer own the laptop with the BootCamp version of Windows 7 on it. When I got my new MacBook Pro, I ended up just building a regular VBox Virtual Machine for Windows 7, since I rarely use windows any longer.

But, I do recall some issues I had originally with the BootCamp/VBox setup ...

Try reinstalling 4.2.12 and downloading and installing the extension pack that goes with it.
