Windows 7 Pro Guest cannot connect to Internet
My daughter and I both run Win 7 in VirtualBox on Dell laptops running Netrunner 2nd edition (Kubuntu 12.04). She has to run Windows this way to gain access to her college network. She installs the required college protection software in Windows and then can log in through something called a nac age...

Re: Disk Full Error, but it is not
Thanks agian for your comments and clarifications. Thay are helpful to me and future readers. However, I do still have a couple of concerns. 1. You mention discarding the old VM and creating a new one using the old VDI, after changing the default machine folder in preferences. I assume you appreciat...

Re: Disk Full Error, but it is not
Thanks for your concern and wise input. I agree with it in most cases and others reading this should take it to heart. As to what you can do: compressed.dat is not a file used by VirtualBox, that I know of. My conclusion as well. There was really nothing else there. Why all the partitions on that la...

Re: Disk Full Error, but it is not
OK, thanks for all the input. Based on what has been said I think I will advise her to try deleting the .VirtualBox folder which contains machine and Compressed.dat If that breaks it I see no more harm done than just deleting and staring over. . . . Look in the preference settings of VirtualBox and ...

Re: Disk Full Error, but it is not
Because you made a dynamic VDI that was bigger than the space you put it in. I don't think so. The vid was set for 14GB and the partition was 15GB (see above). You would need to look at the contents of the partition to see what is taking the drive space. Regardless of what it is there is no room le...

Re: Disk Full Error, but it is not
Thanks for the tip, but in this case the vdi is only 2.4GB.stefan.becker wrote:After some times VDI Files are bigger then the really used size. In this case you can shrink it with CloneVDI.

Re: Disk Full Error, but it is not
sda8 15 GB – 15GB used, NTFS, primary Vbox vdi Full. Yes, but the question is why? The title should have been "but the vdi is not and there should not be anything else in the partition". This is a partition that only housed the vdi. When the required updates started this was not full. Yes...

Re: Disk Full Error, but it is not
The error message means that the host partition, the one the VDI is stored on, is full (actually I thought I was already pretty clear about that in the first sentence of my previous message). I apologize. I guess in my haste I missed you whole first reply. Also I only gave details of semesters to s...

Re: Disk Full Error, but it is not
Sorry. I should have included these. The laptop is not mine and is not here, so I will go from memory and confirm tonight. the laptop is a Dell Latitude D430 (almost netbook size, which is why she likes it, but with the more power). Size of VDI -- I am almost certain they were in the 14 GB range Use...
