Re: No sound on 5.2.32 (#18820)
@socratis . . . Yes, I did. There was a response and I attached the requested log but then no response in the 5 days since I posted it. What is an acceptable time to wait before bumping the bug report? Response to bugs has usually been more immediate elsewhere. There is no indication that the log ha...

Re: No sound on 5.2.32
Thank you @Shamedy!! I downgraded to 5.2.18 and now have sound back. This bug should be reported. I'm actually surprised there aren't more reports of it on this forum.
Perhaps socratis can point us where to do that.

Re: No sound on 5.2.32
@Shamedy . . . Thank you for your downgrade report. I hope to do the same today. If I also have a good result, perhaps a bug needs to be submitted? Not quite sure how to do that but will figure it out.

Re: No sound on 5.2.32
Weeks later and still all 3 of my VB VMs remain silent. Have tried various combinations in the VB audio settings. In the host changed the order of cards in /etc/modprobe.d. Fiddled in various ways with the .asoundrc - syntax, location etc. Have sent many logs to someone much more skilled that I. Eve...

Re: No sound on 5.2.32
Nobody here uses Linux? Update . . . There are audio chips on both the board and processor on this box. I suspected that the guest was finding the wrong one. So I put the line "options snd_hda_intel index=1,0" in a file named "/etc/modprobe.d/snd_hda_intel.conf", renumbered the 1...

Re: No sound on 5.2.32
I also noticed ICH AC97 in some terminal output on the guest a few days ago but forgot what it even does. Is ICH AC97 still viable in 2019? The details of audio on Linux are rather over my head . . . I had help putting together the .asoundrc file years ago. Do you have any suggestions for getting th...

No sound on 5.2.32 (#18820)
ModEdit; related ticket: #18820: No sound on 5.2.32 Linux guest on Linux host I have had Devuan ascii and beowulf guests on a Devuan Jessie 32 bit host for many months but never used audio. Now I have a need to use it and it is completely dead - sound test, music or video file and audio in both han...

Re: USB devices mounted but invisible
That actually worked even though It is illogical for a USB3 configuration to fix a USB2 issue on a USB2 port. Tsk, tsk, tsk... nauved, you didn't read carefully what I linked to... ;) From #4: USB Filters , point 2: It is important to note that if your guest supports USB3, you should definitely ena...

Re: [SOLVED] USB device mounted but invisible
Risk? What risk? To change from USB2 to USB3? That's not a risk, that's a no brainer! Your host supports it, your guest supports it, where's the risk? Please do... Ha! Thanks for your encouragement. That actually worked even though It is illogical for a USB3 configuration to fix a USB2 issue on a U...

Re: USB devices mounted but invisible
Yes, I did see your entry. Plus I did some searching around for the "U3 Cruzer Micro" that has the problem. Guess what? It has issues in real systems as well. Not reading, self-ejecting, all sorts of (not so nice) comments. Good idea. I never thought to do that because I've had that drive...

Re: USB devices mounted but invisible
Did you see my last entry posted a few minutes before your response? Anyway, since everything is working except for that one flash drive, I not going to experiment in ways that might break things. I'd still like to know why that one drive doesn't show up though . . . You've been very attentive. Than...

Re: USB devices mounted but invisible
PS. I just plugged in an external HDD and both partitions on it mounted on the guest as expected including the desktop icon. Also tried another sandisk flash drive and it was mounted. The now invisible drive was working on a previous 4.3 VB version. When I reinstalled with the current 5.1.3 I think ...
