Re: Windows 10 Host for Windows XP Guest - Network (Bridge Adapter?) Malfunction
You can also try to troubleshoot the XP guest as if it is a real PC. Try googling "XP ipconfig shows nothing". Virtualbox.org, be advised: scottgus1 is a steely-eyed missile man . At https://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f136/internet-not-working-and-ipconfig-shows-nothing-425092.html I ...

Re: Windows 10 Host for Windows XP Guest - Network (Bridge Adapter?) Malfunction
DSL worked. I was able to browse. Unable to successfully ping any sites from terminal, but I've not used Linux much & not in a long time. It wanted to know if I was root/a root & that stumped me--I didn't know how to confirm or move to a root directory/position/or whatever.

Re: Windows 10 Host for Windows XP Guest - Network (Bridge Adapter?) Malfunction
A. I'm wondering if you're right about the new Router. 1. Maybe, with my older router plugged in downstairs with a cable was still sending out a WiFi signal (which it does to allow the downstairs Win7 Toshiba A665 system to connect via Wi-Fi if the cable down there is disconnected--which it is if we...

I'm applying outline numbering to text here to, hopefully, facilitate your reference to any reply text herein (by letter & number of the relevant reply) in cases where it might work better than simply quoting text in the reply. A. 1. "It may take at least a minute for the guest OS to recog...

Re: Windows 10 Host for Windows XP Guest - Network (Bridge Adapter?) Malfunction
Thanks for the idea. I am sorry I didn't review my past posts from many months (years?) earlier, because I think I did use zipped files once before. --- Logs & *.vbox attached. ". . . Bridged should work with wired ethernet.": I'd rather stick w/ what has worked. I wish I hadn't been c...

Re: Unable to upload log files - exceed size limit - how to shrink
Will do. Do you only want/need hardening.log, or should I provide both the normal log and the hardening.log? I posted the substantive Question in Windows Hosting & Windows Guest. Do you have advice as to which forum to leave the post in and which to delete it in? I gave it a little different tit...

Windows 10 Host for Windows XP Guest - Network (Bridge Adapter?) Malfunction
I initially posted this in the Windows Guests forum. It's since been moved or retained here only, to the Windows Host forum, based on interaction with scottgus1 & since a post from socratis. VirtualBox Version 5.2.22r126460 (Qt5.6.2) Guest Additions installed: 5.2.22r126460 (Qt5.6.2) Host: Win1...

Unable to upload log files - exceed size limit - how to shrink
I can't upload log files for my inquiry. The regular one is 132KB & the Hardening one is 548KB. I converted each to PDF & optimized/file shrunk the Hardening one(it's still 170KB, so too large still) and the regular one (to 64KB) but when trying to upload, your site won't accept PDFs so it w...

SOLVED or WORK AROUND: 2019 0119 220644 Solution to Drive Assignment/Drive Mapping problem in XPVM: I noticed in Windows Explorer that in My Computer the "d_drive on 'Vboxsvr' (F:)" was shown as "Disconnected Network Drive" unless the HPCP1518ni color printer's usb port was disc...

VBox 6.0.2 Audio Playback Glitch
Audio is glitched in upgrade from 5.2.22 to 6.0.2 Let me first say that I think VBox is a wonderful application. Thank you to high heaven!! The downside is that I'm rather dependent on it. Version of VirtualBox and installed the Guest Additions: 6.0.2 with installed Guest Addition matching version n...

[WorksForMe] Unable to Control Drive Assignments
The issue is solving the shifting drive letter assignments my XPVM is using/assigning. Let me say here what I put in a separate post (mentioned near the end of this one): I think VBox is a wonderful application. Thank you to high heaven!! The downside is that I'm rather dependent on it. I've been th...

Re: [Fixed] Cannot switch to different real Host Drive in running VM guest (#18288)
I find Master101's comment that my post is "a different topic" at least plausible. In fact, my later posts do not include a solution, but the basis for a work-around. My work-around is to not plug in the USB device (which I've isolated using the Disk Management tool to being my HP Color La...

Re: Cannot switch to different real Host Drive in running VM guest (#18288)
Hope this is of value. I, at least temporarily, fixed my drive mapping problem. There are two solution components, the first I can only stab in the dark at the resolution, the second I tested about 27 different ways to replicate failure and resolve it again: 1. For some reason, using a Clone of my X...

Re: Cannot switch to different real Host Drive in running VM guest (#18288)
One issue, one thread. I'm doubting my inquiry/post belongs here. Initially, it seemed to me it was a very similar issue, but I'm using ver 5.2.22 (not 6) & though a virtual optical disk is a problem, the drives I'm trying to get a stable map to are internal hard drives(SSD & HD), not extern...

Re: Cannot switch to different real Host Drive in running VM guest (#18288)(same/similar issue?)
I wasn't sure if I am supposed to post here, since the issue seems close to the same. I think I am having a similar problem. I've tried to make my VM recognize the host drive C: as virtual drive e: and host drive D: as virtual drive f:, but it often reassigns (or the host does, I'm not sure what) th...
