1.6.3 guest additions -> Shared folders do not work

Post by upandgone »

Hi there,

Shared folders do not work with the latest guest additions with Windows XP Prof. SP2 host and guest (even with admin rights). After reinstalling the 1.6.0 guest additions, they work again as usual. The log file says "Shared Folders service loaded" in both cases.

Cheers

shared folders

I seem to be encountering the same problem. The solution seems to be simple, but where can I download the guest additions iso version 1.6.0?

Thanks for the info. With version 1.6.0 the shared folders are accessible here too.

Additions for 1.6.3 are not available to the public so what version you were talking about?

Shared folders not working

Post by savboxer »

Hi,
I am also unable to see the shared folders using Guest Additions v1.6.2.r31466 according to notification icon info. Downloaded VBox 1.6.2 yesterday from Sun website. Will try v1.6.0 as well. I download Guest Additions v1.6.0 and yes, now the folders are visible. Must be a bug in v1.6.2.r31466

I also have issues with the sharedfolders under Vista:

I'll try the 1.6.0 GuestAdditions later

Hey Frank,

I used the ISO that came with 1.6.3 distribution. Not sure which version it is/was, but it did not work. I had to manually download the 1.6.0 guest additions.

Not that it is needed but: confirmed! Additions 1.6 made the folders show up again.

Ok it "works", but i have to go manually to Network Favorites / All Network / VirtualBox Shared Folders ! If i don't do that, \\vboxsvr\sharename doesn't work, it's weird !

I have installed VBox 1.6.4 from Sun (not OSE) on my openSuse 11. Guest - WinXP.
Create shared folder by using Devices->Shared Folders from running machine. And when i open My Network Places->Entire Network->VirtualBox Shared Folders - see nothing. When I uninstall Guest Additions 1.6.4 and install 1.6.0 - nothing changes. So, what else could i try ?
Thanks

After installing Guest Additions 1.6.4 again and 1.6.0 above it (without uninstalling 1.6.4) shared folders appears

New here -

I've been trying unsuccessfully to map my /home folder to the guest OS. (I'm on Vista Ultimate SP1 as a guest and openSUSE 10.3 has a host.)

I apparently had guest additions 1.5.4 and that didn't work. I found 1.6.4 on my system, and that doesn't work either.

Where does one find guest additions 1.6.0?
