Hi,

i just installed the new version 2.2.0 of virtual box.
But unfortunately i can not choose a host interface for bridged networking.
In version 2.1.4 everthing worked fine.

The host OS is Vista Basic x64.

Thanks for help and this great product.
Greetings
Joe

Next to the Attached To dropdown box, is a button. Click it, then you can select which interface you want to use.

I have a similar problem. When I click the button, it comes up with a window that says "Bridged Network Details."

It has a selection for "Bridged Network Adapter," but the only selection possible is "Not selected."
It also has a selection for Guest MAC address.

Any ideas on why this could be?

Edit: I'm running Vista Business x64 as host, and both Windows XP and Linux guests exhibit this issue. This was working on VirtualBox 2.1.4.

Same issue here with Virtual Box 2.20. I'm not able to select my network card as bridged network adapter. Running on Vista 64x with a Realtek networkcard.
It worked fine in 2.14.

I haven't updated my XP VM for testing, but it appears that the HIF driver isn't installed, or loaded. Please check the NIC properties on the Host.

I'm having the same issue when upgrading from 2.1.4 to 2.2.0 (Windows Vista 64-bit host).

I got around the issue by completely uninstalling VirtualBox, installing 2.2.0 from scratch, and re-booting. You'll now see the NIC in Bridged Mode and you'll be good to go.

Reinstall VBox 2.2 and tell it to repair the installation.

For some reason it failed to install correctly the first time.

I should have known it failed when Windows did not tell me to reboot to finish the process the first time.

Confirmed for me.
Did repair then restart and the network interfaces show-up properly.

Removing and repairing also worked for me.

I installed 2.2.0 in my XP VM replacing 2.1.4. No problems. Didn't have to reboot or repair the install. Bridged NICs were selectable.

Thanks for the tips! :D

I think it might be a Vista thing Sasquatch. Been watching and seems that way. Anyway second install and repair fixes it. Small price for a great update.

You're right. Everyone here with the issue is using Vista. I'm so happy I don't use it. No problems with Linux, and if I have to, XP.
