VirtualBox on OS X 10.7 (Lion)?
Has anyone tried running VirtualBox 4.0.8 on the beta of OS X 10.7 (Lion)? Apple announced availability of Lion in July.

Found a posted workaround. Disable VT-x in the VMs: Settings -> System -> Acceleration

Re: VirtualBox on OS X 10.7 (Lion)?
Every time I try to disable the VT-x it tells me that it's a Non-optimal setting and it won't hold the changes. It just turns itself back on.

I can confirm the VirtualBox doesn't work at all with Lion, even worse by disabling acceleration it will freeze your computer when you try to start the virtual machine.

Re: VirtualBox on OS X 10.7 (Lion)?
How do I get to do this?weller1 wrote:Found a posted workaround. Disable VT-x in the VMs: Settings -> System -> Acceleration
VirtualBox keeps crashing and giving error "Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object" It then shuts down.
When I click details on the error report dropdown I get this message:
Callee RC: NS_ERROR_ABORT (0x80004004)
Any Suggestions?

It appears to not work under K32, make sure you are booted into K64

Same thing happened here – freeze.sorin wrote:I can confirm the VirtualBox doesn't work at all with Lion, even worse by disabling acceleration it will freeze your computer when you try to start the virtual machine.

Any hope VirtualBox will work on Lion in near future?

Re: VirtualBox on OS X 10.7 (Lion)?
There is hope.
4.0.10 supposedly works on Lion hosts if the host is running the 64 bit Kernel.
My old Mac Pro 1,1 has a 32 bit EFI and can not boot Lion into 64 bit mode.
All my attempts to get any VMs started on 4.0.10 (and 4.0.4 and 4.0.8 ) with Lion 32 host have failed.
I did try downloading and running VB 4.1 beta onto a Lion GM host and got a Linux VM to start last night.
I didn't get to play around much to see how stable it might be.
I would be a lot more interested in when we get to see support for Lion as a guest.
Lion GM client looks pretty good, but Lion Server is still too messed up for me to load as my primary OS.

4.0.10 seems to be working fine for me on Lion GM code running on K64.
