Code: Select all

remi@leo:~/Desktop$ sudo apt-get install libqt4-opengl

You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

virtualbox-3.2: Depends: libsdl1.2debian (>= 1.2.10-1) but it is not going to be installed

E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

remi@leo:~/Desktop$ sudo apt-get -f install

The following extra packages will be installed:

  libqt4-opengl libsdl1.2debian libsdl1.2debian-alsa libsvga1 libx86-1

  svgalibg1

The following NEW packages will be installed:

  libqt4-opengl libsdl1.2debian libsdl1.2debian-alsa libsvga1 libx86-1

  svgalibg1

Looks good, what's the question? Dumping some terminal output is not helping at all. Read the Forum Posting Guide so you know what a PROPER topic start should be like.

Re: cannot install deb package on debian lenny i386

Post by xstation »

yes my dump was a little to long and thanks about the PROPER way to ask questions

If you look at the last part of the dump theres a bit about (see below)

Failed, trying without DKMS

* Recompiling VirtualBox kernel modules * done.

* Starting VirtualBox kernel modules /etc/init.d/vboxdrv: line 162: 11651 Killed $MODPROBE vboxdrv > /dev/null 2>&1

I think this why its not "working" as kernel modules are killed

I tried installing the ose version that is in the lenny depository but the ose-modules of which there are a few do not match the kernel that is running at present.

thanks for any feedback

For the OSE, go to the Debian forums or their bugtracker, this is obviously a problem with their package system.

But the PUEL should work. It is advised to have DKMS, so if you don't have it, obtain it one way or another. There are third party Debian repositories to match your version and you can always grab the source code and compile it manually. Please return here after you've tried it with DKMS.
