XP Guest using Skype 4 causing Host restart

Configuration:
- KUbuntu Jaunty 64bit (Host)
- Windows XP sp 2 (Guest)
- VirtualBox 3.0.0
- Skype 4.0.27
- NAT network

Step by step to reproduce:
1. install skype 4.0.27
2. Skype try to connect to internet and successfully login
3. Couple second after, linux host sudenly restart

YMMV but I have reproduce above step twice with same result. It's almost unbelievable after skype trying to login, sudenly my jaunty restart. Is it just me, or any body experience the same thing ?

Same thing on my side, I didn't realize it was Skype in the guest that caused it. I'm running a Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 32 bit host with Windows XP 32-bit guest.

Thank you Mike, well it's unfortunate then. Virtual Machine restart or crash is tolerable, but it should not restart the host.
I think it must be logged as bug, but I don't know how to create bug ticket in VirtualBox bug tracker.

I'm having this issue as well. I'm running Ubuntu 8.10. I've tried it with virtualbox 3.0.0, and 3.0.2. I've also tried skype 4.2, and 3.8. The host machine crashes upon skype launch on 3.8, and crashes after skype login on 4.2. So... back to windows on real hardware.

If you don't mind with old interface of skype, you can use skype version 2.0 at ubuntu repository.

same is with my virtual box 3.0.2.

configuration: ubuntu jaunty 32bit(host) and windows xp sp3 (guest) and skype 4.1.0.141.

the crash and restart my host. always.

Found a walk around solution for windows XP sp3 Virtualbox 3.0 on Ubuntu Jaunty.
Go to the Skype folder in the guest XP machine and right click on the skype.exe Choose Compatibility Tab and Set it to Win2000.
Mine don't commit suiside after I did that.
