wifi on guest only

Post by nicod »

Hi,

Host is a laptop (IBM R61) with Win XP Sp3 connected on wired network. VB 2.2.0 installed (plan to upgrade to 3.0.0)

I would like to connect on a wireless network on the Linux guest only, meaning Windows can't use the wifi at that time. A kind of pci passtrough. Is it possible???

Thanks for your expertise guys!

No, VBox does not support this.

Possibly with a USB wireless device, but I think the chances of actually getting it to work would be pretty low.

There has been success reports from users with an USB wifi card.
If it's only the connection through wifi, then you can also use Bridged and set it for the wireless adapter. On the Host, if you won't use the wireless adapter ever, you can disable the TCP/IP protocols so it won't be able to send any traffic through it from the Host. The Guest will be able to do that.
