Virtualbox 3.0 Guest Ubuntu / Xubuntu Host ubuntu crashes

Postby random » 5. Jul 2009, 01:39

Hi
i have installed virtualbox 3.0 from its previous version on ubuntu 9.04 JJ (just removing Virtualbox package and installing new)
since i did it im having problems with navigation.
My guests Ubuntu 9.04 and Xubuntu 9.04 (i know could seem stupid a ubuntu in ubuntu lol) freeze (i cant do anything) after 2 pages on firefox ; during updates or even during live install.

I checked resources, are the same as in 2.2
my pc has a 1,6 dual core pentium 4 cpu , 2 gb ram and 160 gb hd (with 2.2 worked good)

im just asking
is a Vbox problem or what? i never had freeze problems, i could'nt even try to shutdown the Machine (normal procedure, i can with Virtualbox exit)

PS: sorry for my english

Same Problem here with a Debian testing guest...
freezes suddenly while fetching packages lists with "aptitude update"
Happens with VT-x enabled or disabled
kernel 2.6.26, guest additions installed.. (without 3D i think, because setup complained about kernel beeing too old)

probably the same issue as discussed in the threads
"VirtualBox 3.0 problems on several Linux vm's " and
"VBox3.0 Default VM Settings(NIC) don't work with Linux guest":
just change the NIC in the VM settings to emulate an Intel card and try it again ...
