x64 does not install

Post by DarkKnight80 »

Hello, i cant install any x64 System :( . The installation stops again at the same place on x64Win7 or x64XP. The place is "Windows starts" and the VM is still freezing. I use Windows Vista Ultimate x64 for Host on a Athlon 4800+ x2 with 6GB RAM. Hartware Virtualisation, ACPI and IO APIC is enabled. 32Bit Systems-Setup runs without a error. My Hardware is full 64Bit compatible :( ...

HwVirtExtForced <integer> = 0x0000000000000000 (0)

Mnemonic - Description = guest (host)
VMX - Virtual Machine Technology = 0 (0)

I don't see any amd-v or vt-x enabled logging.

I have encountered the same issue -- also, existing XP x64 images will not boot. This behavior happens on v2.2.0 of VirtualBox and above -- it does not happen on v2.1.4. The problem may be related to AMD processors and/or chipsets only.

Please take a look at bug ticket #3666: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/3666

Linux is more forgiving than Windows and allowed you to bypass the issue (upgrade BIOs or use force_addr=0xaddr). Windows will not.

Jep the BIOS is in the Latest Version. But i don't understand why it works with VB 2.1.4 and not with an higher Version for me its sounds like an Bug in VirtualBox. The Program from AMD say AMD-V works correct and the Tool from Vmware. I have now test some other Programs VMware, qemu(KVM), VirtualPC and with all Programs Windows x64(Server 2003, XPx64 and Vista64 Home Premium) works very great.

Have you tried the new version released today? Version 3.0.0 has some 64 bit fixes.

The same issue. Windows freeze at "Setup is starting Windows" and the VirtualBox process eat up 50% CPU on an DualCore System.

Sometimes i get an BSoD on the VM http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/121/bsody.png but not everytime.

PS: Again on VB 2.1.4 everything is fine.
