All sort of USB activity locks up the VM

I have yet to manage to get USB working correctly without locking the frickin' Windows XP VM up. I'm always running the newest VirtualBox, practically updating to any Nevada build as soon it's out. Yet during all that time, USB always broke the VMs. What the hell?

Intel X48 chipset, C2Q 9450.

Funny how two little letters can change the meaning totally.
Of should have been in. Or was it a Freudian slip?
